Narrabeen.

I had this great idea that to take a few days away with the little kids just before Christmas, somewhere that was not too far away, with all the conveniences of proper caravan park and near water. North Narrabeen caravan park ticked all the boxes so we packed up the tent and booked in for four nights.

Being close to the lake, ocean baths and beach meant that we didn't have to travel too far from the camp ground to cool off. They also had a mini water play space within the park that the kids loved.

The fourth day brought constant rain, all day, so we hung out in the rec room. I sat in the corner reading while the kids socialised with other children, playing table tennis, uno and stacking cups which a Korean family had brought along with them.

After all the rain the tent become a little damp so we bundled up our sleeping bags and slept in the car, lucky the kids aren't too big and always up for an adventure!

I was so glad to have taken the opportunity to get away from the rush of pre Christmas, we were so chilled that we kinda forgot about it... Best idea, even with the rain!

Christmas with the reptiles....

A couple of weekends ago we meet up with all the family at the Australian reptile park to celebrate Christmas. The kids had a great time walking around, checking out all the animals and watching the talks. Its a great place to get up close and personal with the reptiles and even though we have all been there previously we still found plenty to entertain us, It was especially entertaining to watch Jasmine try to remove a kangaroo from an area it wasn't supposed to be in!
After a couple of hours and some lunch we gathered around and exchanged gifts before heading our separate ways on the freeway. A great stress free way to celebrate Christmas together.

Last time.

Library story time has been a big part of Ivy's life since she was about 6 months old, most Wednesdays we would head off to one of the local libraries to listen to stories and make crafts.
Last week was the last one for the year and Ivy's last one ever.
I'm not sure who will miss this part of our weekly routine more, her or me....

Christmas lights

Every Christmas for the past 5 years I have been trying to visit Hunter Valley Christmas Lights spectacular, but every year it rains on the night we decide to go, one year we got as far as the carpark to be turned away because of a storm.  Again a visit was planned for on this years advent calender and this time we made it!

In the entry of the gardens Jays class gingerbread house was on display, which he was surprised and excited to see. Within the gardens the path led us around to each of the displays that were themed and most had music for the lights to flash along with.

I must admit that after waiting 5 years to get there I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't over awed either, the little kids though were excited to be there. Checking out each display they ran from one to the other, getting in among them to see them closer. I had to convince them to move on after two rounds of the "12 days of Christmas" display, because lets be honest you can only hear that so many times...

The Christmas lights at the gardens has become a  family tradition for some up here , so I am glad we finally made it!

Check out Jasmine's youtube channel for her video on the visit as part of her VEDTC series.
