Dawn service 2015

Last week we woke up at 3am and travelled on the train to into Nobbies beach for the Anzac dawn service. Joining the crowds we waited quietly in the dark for the start of the service that commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Gallipolli campain. The service began with a video tribute to the fallen Anzac's then continued on to acknowledge the sacrifice that has been made throughout our history by many man and woman in the armed forces. Speeches were made by dignitaries and hymns sung by the choir but the part that always gets to me is the bugler playing the last post and the following minute service. It's during this time that my thoughts always led to the horror of war, the people who died fighting and the effect it had on their families waiting at home. I can't imagine living through that time in history.
When the service had finished we moved down to the beach to catch the sun rise. It was a beautiful ending to the morning.

Mumma Bear.
