For a while now Ivy has been asking to go camping. To be honest, I have been getting the itch to get out there so last weekend we packed up the car for a night at Riverwood Downs.
Riverwood has been a favourite of mine for years, a place that is close by, you can take dogs, is reasonably priced to camp and has enough facilities that you aren't "roughing it". The fact that it also has horses, one of Ivy's favourite animals, also made it an obvious choice for a quick visit.
After setting up camp the kids walked down to the river to ride their boards down the "rapids" while Jasmine, Charlie and I sat back and enjoyed the relative peace.
The other great thing about Riverwood is that you can have a camp fire, and although rain put a bit of a dampener on those plans, we still got one going enough to cook some marshmallows on and warm up before heading to bed. Luckily the sun was shining the next morning so we got another swim down the river in before driving up to see the horses. Unfortunately Ivy couldn't have a ride this weekend but she was satisfied with watching them as they got fed and learning all their names.
The weekend over we left to travel home, content with our night away...
